VENEERS

What are dental veneers?

A dental veneer is a treatment where your teeth are covered with a layer of material. Veneers seek to restore or improve the appearance of your teeth.

Veneers are increasingly popular with individuals who have worn, stained or chipped teeth, and can often correct gaps and minor crookedness in teeth!

What are veneers made of?

Veneers are made of either porcelain or a composite resin. Porcelain veneers are a thin shell, custom-made to fit over the prepared tooth. Composite resin veneers use a tooth-coloured resin to improve the appearance of your tooth; unlike a porcelain veneer the dentist applies the resin to the tooth then sculpts it to achieve the desired effect.

How long do they last?

Porcelain veneers can last up to twenty years with proper care. Composite resin veneers typically last up to five years (also with proper care).

Part of proper care is brushing your teeth and getting check-ups with your dentist. Avoid chewing on hard items (like pens!).

What can veneers do?

  • Change the shape, length or width of your teeth
  • Bridge small gaps between your teeth
  • Be created to match the current colour of your teeth or lightened
  • Straighten slightly crooked teeth
